At King of Christmas, the holiday season is about more than decorating homes, it’s about showing up for communities in meaningful ways.
This past year, we partnered with the Immokalee Fair Housing Alliance (IFHA), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to addressing the severe housing crisis in Immokalee, Florida. Through this partnership, we donated over 150 artificial Christmas trees to families working toward safer, more stable living conditions.
For many of these families, the holidays don’t come with the same ease or comfort. This initiative was rooted in a simple belief: everyone deserves to experience the warmth, beauty, and tradition of the holiday season.
✨ Quick Overview
We partnered with the Immokalee Fair Housing Alliance (IFHA) to donate over 150 both unlit and pre-lit artificial Christmas trees to families living in one of Southwest Florida’s most underserved communities, helping bring joy, dignity, and a sense of home during the holiday season.

Who Is the Immokalee Fair Housing Alliance (IFHA)?
The Immokalee Fair Housing Alliance (IFHA) is a nonprofit organization committed to addressing one of the most urgent housing crises in Southwest Florida.
In Immokalee:
- Nearly 25% of residents live below the poverty line, almost double the national average
- The median household income is just $46,143
- 97% of students are considered economically disadvantaged
Despite being the backbone of the region’s agricultural workforce, many families face unstable and unsafe housing conditions.
IFHA is working to change that, developing safe, hurricane-resistant, and affordable housing designed to help families achieve long-term stability and financial security.
Understanding the Housing Crisis in Immokalee
For many families in Immokalee, housing is not just expensive, it’s often unsafe.
It’s not uncommon for:
- 12–18 people to share a single trailer
- Homes to lack proper kitchens, plumbing, or basic infrastructure
- Residents to face mold, pests, and structural damage
In some cases, families pay weekly rates per person - including children - while living in conditions that are overcrowded and unsanitary.
When Hurricane Irma struck in 2017, the already limited housing supply became even more strained, increasing both costs and instability.
For many households, up to 70–80% of income goes toward housing, leaving little to save or invest in the future.
Why This Partnership Matters
The families in Immokalee are essential to the fabric of Southwest Florida. They harvest food, support local industries, and contribute to communities that thrive just miles away.
Through IFHA’s housing initiatives, families are now moving into safe, affordable homes, allowing them to build financial stability and a foundation for long-term growth.
Creating Moments of Joy at Home
For families transitioning into stable housing, even small moments can feel transformative.
A Christmas tree becomes more than a seasonal decoration, it becomes:
- A place for gathering
- A symbol of stability
- A tradition that can be carried forward year after year
We hope that for many of the residents welcomed into IFHA’s housing, this holiday season marked a new beginning, one defined by safety, comfort, and possibility.
About IFHA’s Mission
The Immokalee Fair Housing Alliance is tackling the housing crisis through an innovative and deeply impactful approach:

Their mission is simple but powerful: help families escape poverty and achieve stability through housing.
